The longest and newest three-cable cable automotive system on the planet

In 2016 the world’s longest three-cable cable automotive was inaugurated within the northern province of Lao Cai to attach the Muong Hoa Valley with Mount Fansipan – the so-called “The roof of Indochina”.

During the inauguration ceremony, representatives of the Guinness Book of Records presented a certificate recognizing the system because the world’s longest three-cable cableway (6,292.5 m).

The facility was also named a three-cable cableway with the world’s largest height difference between the departure and arrival stations (1,410 m). It is able to transporting as much as 2,000 passengers per hour, and every cabin can accommodate 35 people.

The system shortens the travel time to the Fansipan peak – the very best mountain in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia with a height of three,143 m. Instead of two days of climbing, it can now take quarter-hour.

The project designer, Doppelmayr Garaventa Group, stated that because of the world’s newest three-cable system, the Fansipan cable automotive will withstand difficult weather conditions, guaranteeing the protection of holiday makers.

The system is anticipated to assist increase the variety of tourists visiting Sapa by 30-40 percent annually and reach 3 million by 2020. It can even be the primary tourist service in Sapa for the subsequent few years.

During the launch, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said the cable automotive system will help boost the socio-economic development of Lao Cai and the complete northwestern region. Thanks to this, Sa Pa will change into a stronger magnet for domestic and foreign guests.

Vietnam’s Sun Group began construction of the cableway in November 2013 after consulting with Doppelmayr Garaventa.

The city of Sa Pa, positioned 350 km northwest of Hanoi within the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, is 1,600 m above sea level. The city is dominated by the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, home to Indochina’s highest mountain, Fansipan, at 3,142 m above sea level

In December 2017, the resort town was recognized as a national tourist site.
