The latest aircraft sets a brand new global standard in fuel efficiency. “The B787-10 will be an important element of our overall growth strategy, enabling us to expand our network and strengthen our business,” he said in an announcement yesterday.
The airline plans to introduce its 787-10 aircraft to scheduled flights in May, with flights from Singapore to Osaka, Japan, and Perth, Australia.
Prior to the launch of those services, the airline said the aircraft could be operated on chosen flights to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur for crew training purposes.
Goh added that the Boeing 787-10 underlines the airline’s long-standing commitment to operating a contemporary fleet, marking the start of a brand new chapter within the airline’s shared history with Boeing.
About 3,000 people attended the event on the Boeing plant in North Charleston, South Carolina, where the most recent Boeing 787 model is produced.
Singapore Airlines has ordered 68 additional Boeing wide-body jets, including 48 additional 787-10s and 20 recent 777-9s.
