Philippine Airlines has been certified because the country’s first four-star airline, the flag carrier announced on Thursday.
PAL joins 42 other four-star airlines on the list of Skytrax, the London-based organization that rates international air transport.
“PAL achieved this coveted rating after Skytrax conducted a rigorous audit of the airline’s on-board and ground services on both international and domestic flights, and saw significant improvements in its end-to-end passenger experience and its unique one-stop service called Buong Pusong Alaga,” he said. in an announcement from the flag carrier.
PAL President and CEO Lucio Tan called the accreditation “an awesome victory for the Philippines.”
“We are thrilled with this recognition, which is a victory for over seven thousand members of the Philippine Airlines family. Our achievement is the country’s achievement and we share it with all Filipinos around the world,” Tan said in an announcement.
Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted said the rating “recognizes the good improvements the airline has made over the past 2 years.”
“New and upgraded aircraft have played an important role in the quality improvement process, and this looks set to continue as Philippine Airlines introduces the A350 to its fleet. We are committed to consistency of quality in the 4-star rating and strive with Philippine Airlines to ensure proper delivery to customers,” he said.
PAL was ranked 67th on the Skytrax Top 100 Airlines for 2017, up 16 notches from 83rd in 2016.
