Dive within the waters surrounding Pulau Hantu, a small island off the west coast of Singapore, and you may emerge unimpressed. Visibility across the island rarely exceeds three to 4 meters, and abundant algae color the water a vivid green.
For macro photographers like Catherine Lu, nevertheless, Hantu is a hidden gem. The island is home to a little-known reef that’s home to tiny marine life, and amongst its most unusual inhabitants are local sea snails.
“Pulau Hantu means ‘Ghost Island’ in Malay,” Lu said Wet pixel.
“For regulars who dive there, it never ceases to amaze us what we are able to find.”
