First up was the Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia – probably the most necessary archaeological sites in Southeast Asia.

Angkor Wat’s vast, intricate detailing includes over 300 individually carved celestial nymphs, in addition to carvings depicting stories and myths from times past. “The best views are at dawn or dusk, when the crowds have disappeared and the lighting shows its true majesty,” says TripAdvisor.

“Hundreds of tours and attractions can be found in this mesmerizing place, from a private guided tour and a sunset or sunrise visit to a visit that includes a home-cooked meal in a local Agra home,” says TripAdvisor.
