A NokAir plane made an emergency landing at Sakon Airport in Thailand after flames were seen coming from considered one of its two engines and the propeller stopped rotating shortly after takeoff.

The 84-passenger Bombardier Q400 aircraft departed Sakon Nakhon Airport at around 3:10 p.m. yesterday and was scheduled to reach at Don Mueang Airport at 4:35 p.m.

A couple of minutes later, it suddenly turned back to Sakon Nakhon Airport and made an emergency landing. Some passengers were transferred to a different flight to Don Mueang late on Sunday evening.

Passengers of the aborted flight recorded videos of the engine failure and landing and posted them on social media.

One passenger wrote on his Facebook account that he saw flames coming from the engine’s exhaust pipe twice before the propeller stopped turning.

On Monday, Nok Air had technicians check the damaged plane at Sakon Nakhon Airport and used one other plane for scheduled flights between the northeastern province and Bangkok.
