The Sustainable Singapore Movement is the island city-state’s ongoing efforts to create an ecologically clean and exquisite home for future generations. Photographer Klaus Tan Yihong created a photography project titled Space Sustainable, which provides a stupendous take a look at recent green spaces across the country.
Klaus, an 18-year-old student of Anglo Chinese School, has been chosen as the general winner within the junior category of the celebrated City Developments Limited Singapore Young Photographers Award 2018.
“Sustainability implies that our rate of consumption is slower than the speed of resource production – social and economic progress is the final word reward. Shot exclusively in Singapore, this project includes 5 microcosms depicting the spaces wherein we spend our lives – living spaces, rest zones, work spaces, transport spaces and concrete spaces. Each photo tells a singular story about how the featured item contributes to sustainable living in Singapore and highlights the great thing about adopting a sustainable style in town’s development.
The photos show a microcosm of town, living, rest, transport and work. The captions below are by Klaus.
