IKEA in Singapore recalls the award-winning SLADDA bicycle and warns that the belt drive may suddenly break

According to the Swedish furniture manufacturer, the danger comes from the drive belt, which may suddenly break and cause an individual to fall.

So far, 11 accidents have been reported, wherein two people suffered minor injuries. However, these incidents didn’t occur in Singapore.

The bike was sold in IKEA stores in Tampines and Alexandra, Singapore, and received the “Red Dot Award”, a global award for product design and communication.

The company added that customers who’ve purchased the bike are encouraged to stop using it immediately and return it for a full refund. Any purchased accessories intended for SLADDA may even be refunded.

IKEA apologized for the inconvenience.
