Before the primary race of this discipline in Thailand, leading MotoGP riders paid tribute to the victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia.
World champion Marc Marquez, Andrea Dovizioso and Valentino Rossi were among the many riders who posed with the words “Indonesia in our hearts” in Buriram.
The gesture got here after greater than 1,500 people died last Friday when town of Palu was rocked by a 7.5-magnitude earthquake and a robust cascade of water.
International aid is just beginning to arrive and in response to the UN, around 200,000 people need assistance.
Southeast Asia is seen as a growth region for MotoGP, with the game having fun with strong interest in Indonesia, considered one of the world’s most populous countries.
After Thursday’s training sessions, a gaggle of domestic fans waited outside Marquez’s trailer, hoping to catch a glimpse of the star or get an autograph.
“A lot of people love MotoGP (at home),” said Cindy, who like many Indonesians uses one surname.
She went to the race and acquired a sidestand ticket value 2,000 baht ($60). He likes Marquez due to how hard he works to win.
“He’s doing all the things he can to turn into a champion.”
