Six Indonesian fashion designers specializing in modest clothing will present their work at Paris Fashion Week 2018, which will likely be held on September 25 on the Hotel d’Evreux on Place Vendome in Paris.
The six designers from Indonesia Modest Fashion Designer (IMFD) who will present the theme of coastal culture are Si.Se.Sa, Jeny Tjahyawati, Lia Afifi, Ratu Anita Soviah, Nila Baharuddin and Melia Wijaya.
“Five designers and one couture designer will take part in Paris Fashion Week. We’re leaving [for Paris] starting today and tomorrow, and the main theme will be coastal cultural heritage,” said Jeny Tjahyawati, who can also be head of IMFD, during a press conference in Jakarta on Friday, as quoted by Antara.
Jeny has prepared 15 collections with which she’s going to cooperate weaving (fabric) artisans from Ende, Bali. The colours presented within the collections will even be Ende’s showcase.
“In this collection I also use the pleating technique; colours will follow color weaving. The preparations took lower than a month because I’m also the coordinator of Paris Fashion Week,” said Jeny.
Meanwhile, siblings Siriz, Senaz and Sansa, who gathered at Si.Se.Sa, will present the theme “Fascinating Java” inspired by Javanese culture, especially from Kudus in Central Java.

“Batik Kudus is famous for ice-ice [intricate patterns]; but we will create a more modern version of it. We will also pay attention to Tasik embroidery, famous for its charming flowers. We want to show it to the world syar’i [Muslim] fashion can also be exclusive with the addition of Swarovski,” Senaz said.
