Footwear brand Bata recently got here under the highlight after Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pictured) wore a pair of slippers from the brand.
Last week, a photograph of the prime minister wearing classic Bata slippers began circulating on the web, with a user claiming he was a humble man who didn’t need Gucci or Hermes. Instead, a pair of Bata slippers was enough for him.
In a Facebook post that has garnered over 10,000 followers on the time of writing. reactions, 6,305 shares and 1.6 thousand comments, Bata described these slippers because the “best-selling Ramadan accessory of 2018.” Several netizens commented that Bata now means “Buy and Approved”, while others noted that the slippers were sold out. Some also claimed that they’d been wearing Bata products from an early age.


Bata’s Facebook post called it the “best-selling” product within the holy month of Ramadan.
“Best selling Ramadan accessories 2018, worn by Tun M! Check it out in your nearest Bata stores or in our online store,” it said.
The sandals were first spotted by Instagram user @azranshah, who posted a photograph of Mahathir and his sandals on the Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya.
“I saw this from a friend’s story. Our humble Tun doesn’t need Gucci or Hermes, just Bata is ready. I love you, Tun,” the user wrote within the post, pointing to the sandals
