Thailand expects revenue from foreign tourists to rise 8.5 percent this 12 months to 1.78 trillion baht ($49.8 billion), the deputy prime minister said on Monday.
The expected increase is as a consequence of improved prospects for global tourism in addition to Thailand’s investment in infrastructure, Deputy Prime Minister Thanasak Patimaprakorn told reporters.
“This is another year in which we need to focus more on the quality of tourism than the number of tourists,” he said.
Thanasak predicts that tourists’ day by day spending will increase to five,200 baht per person this 12 months from 5,100 baht last 12 months.
Last 12 months, 32.6 million tourists visited Thailand, a rise of just about 9 percent in comparison with the previous 12 months.
