More flights to Laos now. Come

SilkAir, the regional arm of national carrier Singapore Airlines, will offer more flights to Laos under a codeshare agreement with Lao Airlines signed on Wednesday (July 27).

The carrier announced that from October 31, SilkAir will offer three flights every week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Singapore to the Lao cities of Vientiane and Luang Prabang.

The latest service will operate on a circular route, with the aircraft departing from Singapore and flying to Vientiane, then on to Luang Prabang, from where it’ll return to Singapore.

On the identical day that the brand new service begins, Lao Airlines can even add its airline code “QV” to pick out flights operated by SilkAir between Singapore, Vientiane and Luang Prabang, SilkAir said in a press release.

SilkAir will add its airline code – “MI” – to several flights operated by Lao Airlines between Singapore, Vientiane and Luang Prabang from September 1, subject to regulatory approval.

SilkAir said the codeshare agreement gives customers the chance to decide on six weekly flights from Singapore to Laos between the 2 airlines.

The carrier added that in the approaching weeks, flights might be progressively available for booking via the SilkAir website, call centres and travel agencies.

SilkAir vp Ryan Pua said the brand new agreement will allow the airline to advertise Laos as an emerging destination more effectively on its network. “We hope that increased connectivity will bring greater flows of visitors between countries,” he said.
