Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, has overtaken Singapore’s Changi Airport because the world’s best airport for 2024, in line with aviation rankings company Skytrax. It is the third time Hamad Airport has won the title, having previously won in 2021 and 2022.
Singapore Changi Airport and Doha’s Hamad International Airport have long vied for the title of World’s Best Airport. In 2024, the award goes to Hamad, known for its modern design, ease of navigation and luxury shopping malls.
Changi, one in all the region’s busiest airports, is understood for its indoor gardens, waterfalls, cinema and a wide selection of restaurants and shops. It has been named the world’s best airport 12 times by Skytrax, including consecutive wins from 2013 to 2020 and again in 2023.
Meanwhile, Hamad Doha boasts stunning futuristic design, a variety of luxury shops and restaurants, and a novel indoor rain garden. It was named the world’s best airport in 2022, 2021, and 2024.
This yr’s top five was dominated by Asia, with South Korea’s Incheon Airport moving as much as third place and being named probably the most family-friendly airport.
Tokyo Haneda Airport ranks fourth and holds the title of “World’s Cleanest Airport.” It can be the busiest airport on Skytrax’s list, serving 70 million passengers in 2023.
Tokyo Narita International Airport completes its Asian dominance by taking fifth place, recognised for its exceptional customer support and winning the ‘World’s Best Airport Staff’ award.
The Skytrax World’s Best Airports 2024 rankings are based on questionnaires sent to airport customers between August 2023 and March 2024. Passengers rated key services akin to check-in, transfers, immigration, shopping and departures. Data was collected from respondents from over 100 countries on topics starting from ease of security to quality and number of food and beverages.
