The Bangkok Metropolitan Government (BMA) plans to launch a brand new on-demand water taxi service in July to raised integrate the town’s transportation system and promote tourism.
The service, developed by Krung Thep Thanakom Co (KT), might be an exciting innovation in urban transport that goals to scale back traffic congestion and turn out to be a brand new tourist attraction for locals and tourists alike. The water taxis might be integrated with networks of electrical trains, buses and motorcycle taxis, offering a brand new and exciting strategy to explore the town.
Tharatporn Techakitkachorn, managing director of KT, said the trial phase will begin next month. The eco-friendly water taxis will operate in Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem and its tributaries, similar to Khlong Bang Lamphu.
The service will eventually be expanded to other iconic Bangkok canals, including Khlong Lat Phrao. Passengers will have the opportunity to book boats through the app, and fares might be calculated based on distance.
KT is currently negotiating with electric boat manufacturers to accumulate 6-10-seat boats. Two prototype boats might be launched in July in the course of the upcoming trial period.
In addition, the BMA is preparing a dedicated motorcycle taxi app that may connect 5,000 taxis and 90,000 licensed drivers, making it easier for passengers to book rides at fair and transparent prices.
