In a bid to spice up tourism and attract more visitors, students and distant employees, Thailand has announced an expansion of its visa policy. From June 1, 2024, tourists from 93 countries will have the option to remain in Thailand for 60 days and not using a visa, up from 30 days currently. This is anticipated to encourage visitors to remain longer and explore more places in Thailand.

List of 93 countries which can be now eligible for a 60-day stay in Thailand
A. 57 countries currently eligible for 60-day visa on arrival:
- Asia: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Maldives, South Korea, Turkey, Brunei, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Japan
- Africa:Mauritius, South Africa
- Oceania:New Zealand, Australia

Visa on Arrival Regulations
Requirements:
- Passport valid for a minimum of six months.
- Confirmed return ticket.
- Sufficient funds on your stay in Thailand (minimum 15,000 Thai baht ($418) if travelling alone or 20,000 Thai baht ($557) if travelling with family).
- Depending on the traveller’s nationality and situation, additional documents could also be required.
Application process:
- Prepare your visa application form and passport photo.
- Pay the visa fee of two,000 Thai baht.
- Submit your documents on the immigration checkpoints at designated international airports or land border crossings in Thailand.
What if you need to stay longer?
Before your visa expires:
- Go to your nearest immigration office.
- Have your passport, accomplished visa application form and proof of payment of the extension fee ready.
Remember:
- Visa extensions are frequently granted for multiples of 30 days.
- Overstaying your visa may end in fines, deportation and even imprisonment.
- A each day high quality of 500 Thai baht, with a maximum of 20,000 Thai baht, is charged for violating the terms of your visa.
