Vietnam’s longest sea bridge is nearly complete

After three years of construction, the $530 million bridge within the port city of Haiphong is nearly able to serve residents and tourists.
The country’s longest seaside bridge is scheduled to open in May within the northern port city of Haiphong.

The Tan Vu-Lach Huyen Bridge is 4.9 km long and connects Cat Hai Island with the eastern port city of Dinh Vu.

The cost of constructing the 16-meter-wide, six-lane bridge was almost VND12 trillion ($530 million).

The huge structure is supported by almost 100 concrete pillars.

City officials said the bridge was accomplished on Friday and can open to traffic in May, giving residents and tourists one other alternative to water transport.

The bridge took three years to construct. The Vietnamese government secured funding from the Japan International Cooperation Agency for the project.
