AirAsia continues its reign because the world’s best low-cost airline for 15 years

AirAsia has once more achieved a remarkable feat by being named the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline by Skytrax for the fifteenth consecutive yr. This win solidifies AirAsia’s position because the benchmark for low-cost airlines worldwide, surpassing over 300 other airlines within the Skytrax World Airline Awards.

The Skytrax World Airline Awards, considered the Oscars of the aviation industry, are based on the votes of 21 million passengers from over 100 countries. More than 350 airlines participated within the survey, which was conducted between September 2023 and May 2024, underlining Skytrax’s broad reach and prestige.

Voting for the Skytrax World Airline Awards is predicated on several aspects that impact passenger safety and luxury, including the friendliness and efficiency of cabin crew, seat comfort and cabin cleanliness, food and beverage quality and overall value for money.

The Skytrax award, established in 1999, is given to airlines chosen directly by travellers. It is the celebrated Passenger Choice Award.

While Malaysian AirAsia won the general award for best low-cost airline in 2024, AirAsia X, AirAsia’s long-haul subsidiary, got here in sixth for best long-haul airline. AirAsia X operates long-haul flights from three hubs in Asia: Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Bali. The airline flies to 29 destinations in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and even Hawaii. Interestingly, it’s the primary Southeast Asian airline to receive Federal Aviation Administration approval to fly to the United States.
