Chery Omoda E5 Made in Indonesia: revolutionizing Indonesia’s automotive landscape

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto also confirmed that the automotive qualifies for incentive programs. According to the Regulation of the Minister of Finance (PMK) No. 38 of 2023, vehicles will need to have a minimum of 40% TKDN to qualify for the ten% value added tax (VAT) deduction.

Airlangga emphasized: “Omoda E5, manufactured in Indonesia, uses local content and the TKDN is 40 percent. Indonesia is the first country to launch this electric vehicle.” As a result, CSI values ​​the Omoda E5 for the domestic market at Rp 498.8 million on-road at DKI Jakarta. Early customers of the primary 1,000 units will enjoy advantages comparable to a reduced price of Rp 488,800,000 and a lifetime warranty on the electrical motor and battery.

The locally assembled Chery Omoda E5 electric automotive is supplied with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries that provide a variety of as much as 430 km on a single charge based on the Globally Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Cycle (WLTC). The automotive also has a quick charging function, allowing the battery to be charged from 30 to 80% in about half-hour, with an electricity consumption of 15.3 kWh per 100 km.

Powered by a 120 kW electric motor and a battery able to traveling as much as 450 kilometers, the Omoda E5 generates power of as much as 201.2 HP and 400 Nm of torque. It accelerates to 100 km per hour in 7.8 seconds.

To penetrate the Indonesian market, the Chinese brand began assembling electric cars under the Semi Knocked Down (SKD) program in November 2022, followed by the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) program in October 2023. The estimated investment in electric automotive assembly is roughly 250 billion rupiah, using PT Handal Indonesia Motor’s facilities.
