Thailand’s high-speed rail project in cooperation with China has experienced several delays over time. However, the Thai government and Chinese contractors have assured the general public that the project remains to be on target despite setbacks brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic and other challenges.
The high-speed rail project, also generally known as the Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima high-speed railway, is a 253 km long railway line that may connect Bangkok with Nakhon Ratchasima, a serious city in northeastern Thailand. The railway line is being built using Chinese technology and financial resources and is an element of China’s ambitious Belt and Road initiative.
